About Constructed Wetlands

Constructed wetlands provide water quality improvement through natural treatment mechanisms powered by sunlight, wind, plants, and microbes. They not only provide significant water quality benefits, but several ancillary benefits as well, including the creation of wildlife habitats, the preservation of green space, and opportunities for public recreation and education. Our environmental experts work with clients to mindfully construct wetlands while minimizing the impact to the environment.

Natural Systems Team Leader

Tim oversees a diverse group of engineers and scientists with a focus on the design of created and restored systems for habitat improvement and functional uplift, as well as systems designed to improve water quality through the biogeochemical processes found in nature. He has managed and participated in the design of numerous projects involving constructed wetlands for water quality improvement, as well as the restoration or enhancement of various ecological systems, including stream restoration. Tim also has broad experience in permitting and mitigation associated with Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

Tarrant Regional Water District George W. Shannon Wetlands Water Reuse Project

Plummer teamed with TRWD and partnered with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) on a unique water reuse project using natural systems—the first of its kind in the country.

Invista Victoria Constructed Wetland

Plummer was part of an engineering and scientific consulting team for the development of a full-scale constructed wetlands treatment system at the DuPont (INVISTA) Victoria facility.

North Texas Municipal Water District East Fork Water Reuse Project

As one of the largest projects in Texas using reclaimed water to augment a surface water supply source, the East Fork Water Reuse Project provides NTMWD with over 102,000 acre-feet of water per year.
